Profile
The Municipal Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Mr
Leshabe Rampedi holds a BCom (Accounting) degree
from the University of Western Cape, a Masters
degree in Development offered by the University of
the North at Edupark and has completed a Senior
Executive program with the Harvard Business School.
He has also completed various programmes with the
Wits Business School, including Corporate
Communications and Doing Business in Asia. The
Municipal Manager started his career at Consol, an
Anglo American Company. He then joined the foreign
exchange division at Standard Bank, and taught for a
year before joining the University of the North as
an accountant for three years.
He joined the Office of the Premier in 1994 as the
Premier's Executive Assistant and later worked as
Head of Ministerial services including Cabinet
Secretariat. He was later promoted to Head Planning
and Special Transformation programmes.
In 2000, he was promoted to Deputy Director General
now known as Senior General Manager responsible for
Provincial Strategy and Policy Management.
While in the Premier's Office, he also served in the
National Government Committee resting on
International Relations and was also responsible for
Limpopo Provinces' International Twinning agreements
and Investment promotions.
He joined Polokwane Municipality in April 2002.
Amongst his other strategic management duties, the
Municipal Manager is the overall accounting officer
in the Municipality. He is responsible for the
implementation of the Municipality's four main
objectives, namely, the provision of basic services,
local economic development, empowerment of
communities as well as the transformation of
Municipal structures.
