Mayor's Acceptance Speech at the Council Inauguration Meeting
Madame Speaker and
fellow councillors of Polokwane Municipality. I
feel really humbled by the confidence that you have
shown in us.
As you are the
representatives of the people of Polokwane, in their
diversity, we take this as an expression of trust
and confidence by the people of Polokwane. We take
this as an expression of the confidence that the
collective communities of Polokwane have in the
future of this Municipality.
Over the last five
years we have invested a lot, not only in building
infrastructure and providing services in the
historically neglected rural areas but also in the
establishment of a stable institution that will
inspire business confidence and create a stable and
predictable business environment to attract
investment, to create jobs and other economic
opportunities for our people.
The achievements
that we have scored in these five years are not the
results of one mans efforts they are the
cumulative results of the work not only of a
dedicated and hard-working Mayoral Committee but
of your collective work as councillors, of the work
of administrators and of the community which
participated in the planning and decision-making
processes that have guided our work.
I wish to thank you
and these hard working men and women whose work has
brought us where we are today. I can only express
our heartfelt hope and belief that today we are in
an even better position to look forward to an even
brighter future A future of service to our
communities, the next five years of pushing back the
frontiers of unemployment and poverty together.
Lets get down
