Just Park and Ride
The Host City of Polokwane is gearing itself up for huge crowds to attend the 11 June 2010 Official Opening Match between South Africa and Mexico.
The South Park ‘n Ride facility (NIRVANA) will be operational from 11:00 to 24:00 on the day of the opening match. Many people would want to catch a glimpse of this spectacle; the public is informed that no road closures will be implemented, with the exception of the road leading in to the stadium precinct.
No access will be allowed in to the stadium precinct and the street leading to the FAN FEST located at the cricket club will also be heavily affected throughout the foot ball tournament as the FAN FEST will be operational for the entire period of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
No parking will be allowed in Marshall Street, Suid Street or the roads between these 2 streets. Vehicles parking illegally will be towed and a fine of R1500 levied, excluding towing and impounding fees.
Ring route from the Central Transport Hub (CTH) located at Bodenstein Street will be operational between 10:00 and 24:00 on the day of the FAN FEST™’s operation.
These road closures are aimed at facilitating the movement of the people and vehicles in such a way that there are no congestions.
“We hope that these plans will create a smooth running of the entire event of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ particularly the movement of vehicles and the people attending these games” concluded 2010 Director, Ndavhe Ramakuela.
